Venosta Valley hikes: choose the area first
Upper Venosta includes lakeside terrain, alpine slopes and side valleys with different elevations and access. Start from Lake Resia, Langtaufers or a valley locality, then narrow by ascent, surface, exposure and group ability.
Routes near the lake do not automatically share surface, gradient or accessibility. Use the dedicated guide as a first filter.
A side valley has its own access and return times. Do not infer residual snow, transport or phone coverage from the season.

Five criteria before the trail name
Compare ascent, distance, surface, elevation and exposure with the least experienced person. Add access, breaks and return time; when essential data is missing, choose a simpler alternative instead of filling the gap with an estimate.
Kilometres alone do not describe effort. Ascent, gradient, surface and elevation change the real pace.
Check precipitation, temperature, wind and warnings near departure and keep a lower route or wet-weather plan.
Verify the last useful service, actual starting point and daylight margin; never assume a shuttle is available.

Where to verify trail opening
This editorial selection is not an opening bulletin. Check the operator or responsible authority for the individual trail, provincial risk warnings and current weather; respect closures and signs on site.
An online track or review does not confirm that a trail is open, clear or suitable for the group.
Prepare a shorter or indoor stop in advance so a change never forces the chosen route.
